We advocate to inform street hustlers about the legalization of marijuana and how they need to be part of the conversation. They don’t see the bigger picture, if smoke shops and big corporate companies start selling legal marijuana, that will cut the economic stability they had underground selling smoke and edibles.

- Juanita Abdul-AliyAlicia Elizabeth Dorsey If you by our backs you mean Black ppl, then us being a target has nothing to do with “illegal” drug sales. This is once again a ploy to remove wealth from the Black community and now make it regulated to a way that Black ppl who have engaged in healthy and successful marijuana distribution for generations would not be able to comply. And why should they?? This is just like Prohibition. Prohibition ended because Black Moonshiners were becoming millionaires supplying “white” ppl with that “jungle juice” and white men were not profiting. What we should be doing is absolutely continuing to operate as a community, legitimize our own businesses i.e. run it the same as any other business, professionalism, packaging, etc, and stand up for this being one of very few free markets left here that doesn’t involve government regulations and control. Complying for Black ppl to governmental control and hoping “we” will treated “equally” has NEVER worked in American history, you think they are going to give Black ppl the ability to even have a dog in this fight? Look at gentrification, hell, look at desegregation…. We are always first to comply and just “hope” we can Kumbaya our way to the table too only to discover there was never a seat for us.
